Assessment of Conservation Voltage Reduction by Unscented Kalman Filter based load modeling

This paper proposes an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) based Load Model Identification method to analyze the Conservative Voltage Reduction (CVR) effects, i.e., the change in load consumption to the change in voltage. We use exponential load model to represent load as a function of voltage. With the implementation of UKF, real-time CVR effects can be assessed by estimating the load-to-voltage sensitivities in the exponential load model. Case studies with OpenDSS simulations on the IEEE-123 node test system and practical utility data validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
