Experimental study of the pressure compensation coefficient using ion mobility spectrometry

The technique of ion mobility spectrometry is widely regarded as an in-situ detecting and indentifying method for detect low concentration in ambient conditions. Since the instrument basing on the ion mobility spectrometry works in atmospheric pressure, the influence of air pressure is one of the factors which must be considered. Here, an experiment carried out in a sealed box designed to simulate pressure-changing in both negative and positive ionization mode, the compounds 2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, and nicotinamide, are used as the calibrants, respectively. Based on that, the compensation coefficients in air pressure are studied. The findings concerning pressure factors also help to understand better instrument working in field conditions.
