Elevator drives energy analysis with duty loads and behavior in dynamic conditions

This paper examines the comparison of the electric drives with permanent magnet machines for vertical transportation considering the actual system with adjustable speed drives. Most common application in the recent times of elevator industry is permanent magnet synchronous machine with adjustable frequency drive along direct current bus voltage intermediate. Various System level performance parameters have been deliberated with the dynamic loading on the elevators capturing actual measurements and examining the behavior towards loading pattern of the system, that would enhance and give us opportunity for selection of higher efficient systems with optimization but not compromising on key factors like safety, quality, cost, reliability and robustness factors. A case study has been conducted with adjustable speed drives along with permanent magnet synchronous machines to easily adopt for the society with new technology that would contribute energy savings as a main factor, which is very dire issue for the developing countries.
