Effect of molecular motion and photocurrent in polyethylene

It is relatively recent that the investigation of photocurrents in polymers has started. In 1956, Fowler¹ investigated the X ray-induced current in various polymers and succeeded in explaining the phenomenon in terms of the electronic nature. In succession, Wintle et al.² and other workers^3,4 have studied and discussed photoconductive phenomena in polymer materials.
