A multi-band square patch antenna based on shorted pins and asymmetric-circular shaped slots

A multi-band square patch antenna based on shorted pins and asymmetric-circular shaped slots is proposed for L-band and S-band communication applications. The desired bandwidth can be obtained by adjusting the positions of these shorted pins and asymmetric-circular shaped slots. Also, the positions of the asymmetric-circular shaped slots can be used for choosing the desired resonance frequencies. The simulation results indicate that the designed antenna can be used for dual- and quad-band communication applications. Additionally, the proposed antenna has a good impedance matching characteristic in the operating bands and possesses directional radiation patterns.
