Near-infrared organic photovoltaic driven image device for three-dimensional image sensing

More recentely, the mechanism of energy up-conversion was proposed to use in the organic electronics, which can conver the infrared light to visible light. This work might interest for their special applications such as night vision and infrared imaging. Therefore, in this presentation we report a novel organic photovoltaic driven image device for three-dimensional sensing, which consisted of a phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode, a photosensitive charge-generation layer (CGL), and a transparent multilayer electrode to make it. The proposed image device was used as a device configuration of ITO/mixed CGL of chloroaluminum phthalocyanine and C60/1,1-bis(di-4-tolylaminophenyl) cyclohexane/4,4′-Bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1′-biphenyl doped with fac-tris (2-phenylpyridine) iridium (III)/2-phenyl-9-(3-(2-phenyl-1,10-phenanthrolin-9-yl)phenyl)- 1,10-phenanthroline/LiF/Al/Ag/WO3 to provide a green emission under 2mW/cm² NIR illumination. As a result, an optimal device exhibited a current gain as high as 30 000 (defined as the light current density divided by dark current density) at a driving voltage of 2.7 V. In addition, the clear image with a high resolution of 600 dots per inch on the panel of our device was successfully observed, which may be applicable to the field of night vision or other sensing application.
