Design, analysis and experiment of a permanent magnet brushless DC motor for electric impact wrench

This paper presents analysis design and optimization of 0.4kW maximum power permanent magnet brushless DC motor for electric impact wrench. The key point of this paper is to design a most suitable BLDC for electric impact wrench which satisfies all industry requirements. In order to satisfy load capability, lifetime, low cost, fast bolting time and easy industrial mass production > theory analysis about key points of motor design is discussed. Simulation and experimental verification of the prototype are analyzed and compared in detail. Fan is used in the design as cooling and thermal analysis is given to simulate the temperature rise of all parts of motor. An electromagnetic field analysis using MATLAB and MAXWELL 2D FEM analysis is used in the design to get high power density and efficiency. Experiment results are obtained to verify the design.
