Effect of the shaft on the distribution of the magnetic field for two and four-pole induction motors

The paper presents the simulations of influence of a shaft of induction motors on the magnetic field distribution and the resultant magnetizing current. Motors are supplied from mains at 50 and 200 Hz. For that calculations, field-circuit and analytical methods are used, taking into account the nonlinear phenomena. The results show a significant increase in magnetizing current for two-pole motor concomitant with the use of nonmagnetic shaft. Calculated results have been verified by measurements.
