Bilinear control modelling of direct current motors

There exists a large literature dealing with the linear optimaI control problem in electrical machines. A discrete algorithm for a suboptimal nonlinear regulation of a group of electrical machines is reported in this paper. The system consists of a direct-current motor which is driven by two-cascade amplidynes. There, both the field excitation and the armature current are assumed to be variable, and therefore, the nonlinear characteristics of the problem arise in a natural way. Then, the overall system is found to be approximately descibed as a class of bilinear models. Besides, optimization techniques are applied to the regulation problem while using such a bilincar description. Also, it is pointed out that the suggested bilinear strategy can be thought as a particular example of more general optimization schemes, which involve bilinear discrete invariant-time interconnected systems of inhomogeneous type .
