Fading model for wireless 5G mmW transmission

This paper presents a simple and yet effective path loss channel fading model, particularly suitable for 5G mmW propagation in indoor or outdoor environment. Model improvements such as base station heights and multipath amplitude scaling are introduced over ref[1], for increasing model fidelity and efficiency for meeting the upcoming 5G mmW complexity and demands. Extensive Matlab simulations of both large scale path loss attenuations as function of distance at 30GHz, 50GHz, and 70GHz are presented. Simulation results show that both the large scale and small scale path loss are consistent with measurements as reported in ref[1]. It is concluded that the proposed model can be useful for efficiently predict 5G mmW channel fading, including mmW fast frequency selective channel challenges.
