Linear-complexity direct finite-element solver based shape design of electromagnetic structures

In this work, we show how the shape synthesis of electromagnetic structures can be converted to an equivalent inverse problem, and subsequently solved by a linear-complexity direct finite-element solver without the need for an optimizer.
