Experimental verification of selective passive compensation

Since the early 1980's compulsators have been studied as a power source for electromagnetic launchers. Theoretical work has shown that a compulsator with selective passive compulsation could be used to produce a high current, flat-topped pulse which would be ideal for this application. This paper describes an experimental demonstration of selective passive compensation and presents a comparison between some experimental results and the predictions from a simple linear model. The experimental results were found to be in general agreement with theoretical predictions from the model, in most cases the accuracy was better than twenty percent.
