Impact of the dispersion map on long-haul 40 Gbit/s single-channel soliton transmission with periodic dispersion compensation

The impact of the dispersion map on 10-Gbit/s single-channel transmission was experimentally investigated. The transmission performance was significantly varied with the dispersion map. By using the optimum dispersion map, 40-Gbit/s transmission over 10,200 km has been achieved.
