Standardization of services - still up to date ?

For some time differences of opinion have been arising in respect of the standardization of services. Countries with a deregulated telecommunications market increasingly consider international standardization as superfluous whereas Most countries in which a monopoly exist regard standardization as an essential part of its obligation to cover the needs of all Citizens. The following contribution will show that for various reasons the standardization of services today is more useful than ever and does not restrict free competition.
