Implementation of tmr in an oncology research hospital

This paper describes the selection and implementation of a computerized information system, The Medical Record (TMR), in a comprehensive cancer center. The experiences presented range from the initial decision-making process regarding system choice through TMR dictionary development and user training within a limited time schedule. Major problems and solutions as they relate to both system implementation and the creation of a new organization in a recently completed facility are discussed. Our experiences suggest methods to minimize such problems and maximize interdepartmental communications regarding system development and use.
