What are the traffic characteristics of the emerging distributed multimedia communication services?

The paper reports on experiences from experiments with novel interactive multimedia communication services. New user interfaces open up for entirely new ways to communicate and give rise to new traffic patterns. We focus on description of the some applications and discuss our plans to explore their traffic characteristics and their implications for Quality of Service requirements on underlying networks.
