Pre-breakdown phenomena and breakdown in gas-insulated systems

The influence of the voltage form and voltage application duration in particle free and particle contaminated GIS on the pre-breakdown phase and the breakdown was examined at different gas pressures. The results refer to events initiated at both the electrode-gas and the insulator-gas interfaces and they are obtained by using both realistic and scaled gas-insulated systems.
