Atm switching in the developing telecommunication networks

This paper presents the evolution of ISDN to broadband ISDN and the role ATM plays in the evolution of networks. Emphasis is put on near-term architectures for broadband networks and switches ATM switching fabrics and several design options for switching elements are considered in detail. Some ATM Dials in Europe, including broadband applications, are described briefly.
