Life studies of lithium primary cells

Spacecraft subsystems require uninterruptable power sources to supply power during main power failures. Lithium primary cells were selected to be investigated for these types of applications. The lithium primary systems in general have a number of advantages over other electrochemical systems, such as light weight, small volume, high power, excellent voltage regulation during discharge and long shelf life. There are various types of lithium primary systems available for use in these applications.
