Many-state alarm generation using multiple binary decisions

An alarm generator is proposed and is to be used at the top level of a hierarchical fault detection and isolation architecture developed in the framework offered by the EUREKA MAINE EU996 DIALOGS project. This alarm generator uses two binary decisions and fuzzifies them to obtain a five-state alarm signal. It then performs a quantitative-qualitative analysis on this alarm signal. The result can either be directly used by a human operator, or by an upper level decision maker which uses causal analysis and qualitative data.
