Reduction of large scale linear dynamic SISO and MIMO systems using modified particle swarm optimization algorithm

In present work, a new modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is utilized for model order reduction of large scale linear SISO and MIMO systems. Based on the linear descending inertia weight, this paper proposes a new modified inertia weight strategy. Since this modification gives the PSO algorithm the characteristics of rapid convergence speed and better global search ability, the proposed hybrid algorithm is highly effective and efficient. The proposed algorithm extensively compared with selected existing techniques. The proposed algorithm is illustrated with the help of a numerical example using the Matlab 2010 environment.
