Abstract:

The Present study uses the significant finding of frontal theta activity and emotional rejoinders through music listening on 41 subjects and derives a mathematical model. During the experiment, Electroencephalogram (EEG) activity recorded in different regions employing Indian instrumental classical music as a stimulus. The analysis of the data were performed for frontal theta power. The results confirm the hemispheric asymmetry of frontal theta power. Positively valence emotions (happy) elicited greater relative theta power in the left hemisphere, whereas negatively valence emotions (sad) elicited greater relative theta power in the right hemisphere. The study, correlate self-response of all 41 subjects with quantitative EEG to musical stimulus and proposes a system to estimate valence of emotion for musical stimulus.
