Improvement of delay profile estimation using wireless LAN signal

In this paper, we investigate a delay profile estimation method using a wireless LAN signal. In the method, a preamble signal added to the head part of a transmission packet of the IEEE 802.11g wireless LAN signal is utilized to estimate multipath delay profiles. The estimation is realized by correlation processing between the received preamble signal and its replica. We first examine the influence of the carrier frequency offset (CFO) and show that the accuracy of the delay profile estimation is improved by compensating CFO. We then investigate improvement of the estimation accuracy by adopting deconvolution using the auto-correlation waveform of the transmitted signal.
