Locking characteristics of a modified heterodyne phase-lock loop

This paper presents locking transients as well as locking range of a narrow band (using a single tuned circuit) heterodyne phase locked loop by converting the loop into a baseband model. A novel method has been proposed to calculate the locking range of the loop presence of a phase modulator to mitigate the deleterious effect of loop delay.
