Two elements compact MIMO antenna with reconfigurable lower band and consistent high band for tablet applications

A 3G/4G planar compact inverted-F antenna (PIFA) antenna with reconfigurable lower band between 704MHz – 960MHz, and consistent high band between 1710MHz – 2690MHz has been designed and implemented for two elements multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna system on a tablet size ground plane. This antenna shows good performance for each reconfiguration state in the lower band and consistent higher band with nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns and acceptable ECC (envelope correlation coefficient) based on the radiated far-fields.
