Indian experience of utilisation of Synchrophasor system and its integration with Situational Awareness system

This paper describes utilization of Synchrophasor system by State Transmission Utility of Maharashtra in India and its experience in monitoring of the grid with the help of this. It discusses how synchrophasor system, Situational Awareness system can be utilized for Real time as well as Offline analysis of the grid in Indian context. It presents comparative analysis of occurrence in the grid with the help of Synchrophasor system, Disturbance Records of Numerical Relaying system and that of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System(SCADA). It also gives brief information on first of its kind of integration activity of WAMS and Situational Awareness System carried out in India further highlighting how it improved observability of the grid.
