ANFIS controller based STATCOM regulator for self excited induction generator

This paper deals with the design of Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) based static compensator (STATCOM) for self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) which is suitable for the low power rating generation with constant input power. When the electrical load is maintained constant at SEIG terminals, it can generate constant voltage and frequency. Moreover, during such operation, excitation capacitors are connected to get a fixed-point operation. But, any decrease in load may accelerate the machine and the voltage and frequency levels raises to prohibitively high values which affect other connected loads. To limit this, a new technique, ANFIS based STATCOM-voltage regulator is employed to control and regulate the voltage of SEIG. A dynamic model of the SEIG STATCOM feeding non-linear/linear three phase loads using stationary d-q axes reference frame is used. The simulated results show that SEIG terminal voltage is maintained constant with the changing of balanced and unbalanced three phase loads and free from harmonics using STATCOM based voltage regulator.
