Ultrasonic strain reconstruction using multi-scale cross-correlation method

In elastography, the existing cross-correlation method is limited within 2% or less compression. Such small compressions are required in order to reduce the influence of waveform distortion due to the compression. In this paper, a new method, namely multi-scale cross-correlation is proposed to overcome the limitation on compression. Computer simulation results indicate that this method can be used to reconstruct large strain of 10% or more. This new method provides a realistic tool for the strain reconstruction of biological tissues.
