Wavelet based fault tolerance in grid interface system for DC power distribution network

In a DC distribution system, the reliability of the interfacing converter is crucial. The ability to detect the fault occurrence in a fast and accurate manner for fault mitigation is one of the criteria for fault diagnosis of a distribution system in a built environment. In this paper, an interfacing cascaded boost chopper rectifier is used as a case study for fault diagnosis. Wavelet transform of the DC link and output capacitor is carried out to differentiate the various faults and occurrences, and then classify them to a fault library. The fault library is obtained as simulation before test with a finite number of faults occurrence. A flowchart implementation and comparison will then be carried out on classification of the fault based on the fault library. This can result in shorter fault detection time due to less computational effort without having to carry out the entire computational algorithm.
