Security tenets for life critical embedded systems

With the world becoming increasingly interconnected, life critical embedded systems (LCES) are no exception to the rush for connectivity. LCES include medical devices, vehicles, or other systems that may cause loss of life. This paper is a shortened version of a paper posted on the DHS website (https://www.dhs.gov/publication/security-tenets-lces) that outlines basic security tenets for LCES. This discussion will inform the final draft of this paper. The proposed tenets are a guideline only, with no regulation anticipated.
