Improvement of Lightning - Arresters Energy Capability

For very accurate cases of lightning protection (for exemple : light warning of high poles, or energy providing of altitude points) it is necessary that lightning protection devices withstand normally several direct lightning strikes. The memorization of such multiple energy transit through the arresters can induce a short term breakdown of the arresters, even if they are specified to withstand the full energy of a direct lightning strike. A very fast circuit shorter with an adequate command device allows an important improvement of the cumulated energy capability of lightning arresters. . This present some interest, either to get ;s:iy margin for a direct super energetic lightning strike, or to allow the arrester to withstand a greater number of medium energy strikes.
