Frequency sextupling using single LN-MZM and 2.5 Gb/s RoF transmission

Millimeter wave (MM-Wave) generation through optical methods is attractive due to its ability to generate low phase noise, highly stable and tunable signal than the conventional electrical methods. In this paper, 60 GHz MM-Wave signal is generated through frequency sextupling with a single Lithium Niobate Mach-Zehnder Modulator (LN-MZM). By properly adjusting the RF amplitude of the local oscillator and the biasing parameters of the MZM, frequency sextupling is achieved. In addition to this, transmission performance of the generated MM-Wave single is evaluated with 2.5 Gbps data transmission over 20 km Radio over Fiber (RoF) link.
