Design, fabrication and characterization of a liquid-tunable, gravity-immune aspherical lens

We designed, fabricated and characterized a 3mm diameter, membrane-based, liquid-tunable aspherical lens immune to gravity-induced surface errors. Regardless of its orientation, the optical performance of the lens is significantly better than conventional tunable lenses.
