Hacking smart parking meters

The world around us is increasingly connected through the Internet of Things (IoT) using wireless technologies such as Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks (LR-WPANs) and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). As reported by local media around Australia and other countries, on-street parking spot sensors and meters are one of the more recent additions to the IoT. This paper investigates the security of these smart parking meters and defines possible attacks.
