Chlorophyll-a concentration estimation for seaweed identification in Kupang bay using MODIS aqua data

Indonesia is one of the biggest seaweed-producing countries. In demand to improve the seaweed production, we need to manage the suitability area for seaweed habitat; hence the Government will have enough information about which areas are grown by seaweed. In this research, we propose Chlorophyll-a concentration estimation using MODIS data for wild seaweed identification. By using NDVI concept and Pearson Correlation function, we obtain significant correlation between MODIS and in-situ data for all time series MODIS data used. In addition, the use of NDVI in the identification of seaweed will provide good result in identifying the suitability area of seaweed by estimating Chlorophyll-a MODIS data features.
