Crest factor reduction for TD-LTE base station

TD-LTE system used orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) transmission scheme. OFDM is a promising multicarrier modulation technique for high-speed communications [1], However, a major drawback of OFDM signals is their high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). When design TD LTE base station, the transmitter's power amplifiers (PAs) are peak-power limited, the large PAPR leads to in-band distortion and out-of-band radiation. Although these problems can be solved by increasing the back off, it comes with a side effect of reducing power amplifier's efficiency. Crest factor reduction (CFR) technology can reduce the PAPR so that the back-off of the radio frequency power amplifier can be reduced. This paper describes a new PAPR reduction scheme for OFDM. By using space band spectrum, the schemes have lower EVM degradation. Simulation result show that 64QAM modulated OFDM system, the PAPR-reduction performance at 8.56dB, EVM at 1.1682%.
