Distribution system state estimation: A survey of some relevant work

State estimation of power transmission system has been successfully applied in practice, while less attention is given to the distribution system state estimation (DSSE) for a long time. As the penetration of distributed generation and utilization of next-generation digital devices such as phase measurement units increasing to a higher level nowadays, monitoring objects and tools for distribution system state estimation have been enriching a lot, thus highlighting its importance in the whole power system. This paper reviews the research status on the problems of algorithm structure design, insufficiency of real time measurements and measurement configuration in DSSE, and puts forward the difficulties and challenges of the active distribution system state estimation to be facing in the future.
