Terrestrial Localization by Using Angle of Arrival Measurements in Wireless Sensor Network

Localisation in wireless sensor network is the process of determining the geographical location of the sensor nodes. Conventional localization is space oriented which uses GPS (Global Positioning System) signal to obtain the location information of the nodes. But the GPS signals fail to work in indoor environments, the reason for which it becomes mandatory to opt for terrestrial localisation. The proposed indoor-terrestrial localisation work aims at designing localisation service through WSN where sensor nodes are mobile and form cluster. As most of the wireless sensor applications, essentially requires reliable information of the physical location of the sensor nodes, the work aims to provide localisation using the Angle of arrival (AoA) for angular estimation. The use of triangulation method for the position calculation and the Root Minimum Mean Square Error analysis (RMMSE) of the actual position in contrast to the calculated position further assists the sensor nodes to achieve reliable location information.
