A Knowledge-based Region Analysis System And Its Application On Outdoor Scene Interpretation

A technique for outdoor scene analysis using knowledge-Based Region Analysis System is presented. There are three main components 1) Building the feature data base; 2) Knowledge representation and acquisition; 3) Control organization. In this paper, a particular attention is paid on some original views, including "Focus-Field of Vision" knowledge representation;. "Focus-Field of Vision" inference engine. A comparison of matching cost among "Focus-Field of Vision" engine and some other engines is briefly introduced here. The system has been implemented in FORTRAN77. Experiments on interpretation of outdoor scenes including sky, building, trees, ground and road have been made. The results are satisfactory and are also enclosed here. The application of this system is such as the needs for robot vision navigation.
