Study of transient processes during imperfect coupling of a synchronous generator to the electrical grid

The paper presents a study for educational purposes of the transient processes which appear when the conditions for the coupling of a synchronous generator to the electrical grid are not strictly fulfilled. For this purpose, the generator is modelled in a Matlab/Simulink environment which introduces the students both to machine modeling and to the laboratory works in the laboratory “Electrical machines” of the Department of Electrical machines in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University of Sofia.
