A Dynamic Performance Index For Packet Switched Networks

As the use of packet switched networks grows, a user-oriented index that characterizes network performance is needed. This work reviews present and proposed measures of network performance, some of which are user-oriented, and their usefulness. On the basis of specific user needs, a model of a composite performance index is developed and proposed. The usefulness of this real-time index is explored and substantiated.
