STATCOM with PI controller for asymmetric grid fault ride of fixed speed induction generator wind farm

An optimized STATCOM control is provided by this paper for wind electric generator. Fixed speed induction generator (FSIG) having high asymmetrical fault percentage than variable speed. Even though there are different ways to control these faults STATCOM control method to compensate reactive power is one of the useful and highly beneficial methods. By injecting huge quantity of reactive power for the duration of the fault recovery, the unusual behavior of fixed-speed wind farms can be improved. In this paper MATLAB simulation results are observed for the system under fault condition without STATCOM and with STATCOM with closed loop PI controller. STATCOM provides fast response for fault recovery.
