The European automotive manufacturers have initiated research work together with electronic and supplier companies, with traffic engineers and administrations towards an inte grated technical approach by using the foreseeable possibilities of electronics and infor- matics both in vehicles and for roadside equipment in order to increase traffic safety, environment compatibility and efficiency.
