An anisotropic nanosphere in a uniform field

Fields internal and external to an anisotropic nanosphere illuminated by a plane electromagnetic wave are expressed using a quasi-static approach. The field expressions obtained are particularly relevant for circuit modeling of nanoparticles. Closed form expressions for angles of refraction are given. The results are illustrated with two numerical examples. Assuming the nanosphere to be gyrotropic biased by a static magnetic field, variation in refraction with the orientation of magnetic field is shown.
