The benefits of automation and control software for EMI/EMC testing

In recent years, there has been a shift in the process of performing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing from a manual approach to a software-driven, automated approach. Generally speaking, this automation has provided numerous benefits to both those responsible for performing testing, as well as for those whose product is under test. This paper will provide an overview of traditional testing methods and the pros and cons of implementing automation and control software. Considerations for software selection will also be discussed. Lastly, predictions on the future direction of EMC test software will be made.
