Calculation of high electromagnetic pulse coupling to lossy transmission line based on DEPACT macromodel

in this paper, an equivalent circuit model is proposed to calculate the response of high electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) radiated field coupling to transmission line above the lossy ground accurately and efficiently. The delay extraction passive compact circuit (DEPACT) micromodel is applied, and it can calculate the coupling voltage and current in time domain by circuit simulation software such as PSpice software, which can be improved to calculate the response of transmission line with nonliner loads. In this model, the transmission line is modeled by a cascade of some subnetworks. Each subnetwork is represented by a cascade of lossless and lossy networks and the incident field is assumed that only couples with the lossless sections. Furthermore, in order to build the lossy section, the ground impedance is approximated as a rational function by vector fitting (VF) method. Several current responses of transmission line are provided and are compared with the calculation results of frequency-domain method, which indicate the validity and efficiency of the method proposed in this paper.
