Modelling of a photovoltaic power plant with Finite State Machines

This paper presents a Finite State Machine (FSM) model of a photovoltaic (PV) power plant consisting of a PV array, a DC boost converter with maximum power point tracking and a grid-tie voltage source converter with a phase-locked loop controller. The FSM approach is used to represent different states of the PV power plant. Such an arrangement enables a simulation time to be reduced, while at the still offering the capability to correctly simulate the dynamics of PV system operation.
