A multi-period optimal power flow algorithm for microgrid in consideration with the state-of-charge of BESS's

This paper presents a novel multi-period optimal power flow (OPF) algorithm for the microgrid in consideration with the states of charge of BESSs and reactive power flows. Because the states of BESS/s are dependent on those of the previous stages, the OPF algorithm should inherently be multi-periodical. As the problem is mathematically formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming, the computation time is significantly increased when the system dimension increases. In this paper, an efficient algorithm is suggested and successfully applied to CIGRE medium voltage microgrid benchmark system with 8 photovoltaic, a single of wind turbine, 2 battery energy storage system(BESS) and 4 diesel generators.
