Application research of passive-network-based high power factor rectifier in variable frequency avionics system

With the development of all-electric aircrafts, variable frequency avionics system, of which the frequency ranges from 360Hz to 800Hz, has been taking the attention of researchers and aircraft manufactures. RNSIC and ATRU are two high power factor rectifiers based on passive network, of which the application properties in VF avionics system are researched in this paper. Based on the parameter design of RNSIC in constant load constant frequency, the load characteristics and frequency characteristics of RNSIC are discussed. To obtain optimal performance in full frequency band, a global parameter design method is proposed. The conventional 12-pulse ATRU and its improved topology are introduced. On the basis of this, the input current THD and PF of ATRU vary with load and frequency are analyzed in detail. Finally, the application properties of RNSIC and ATRU in VF avionics system are compared.
