Distribution and balancing control of capacitor voltages among arms of a Modular Matrix Converter

This paper presents the capacitor voltage balancing control based on distribution of unbalanced capacitor voltages among nine arms of a Modular Matrix Converter (MMxC). It is derived that arbitrary unbalanced capacitor voltages can be expressed by four kinds of planar sinusoidal distributions. The authors propose the capacitor voltage balancing control using the four circulating currents to compensate for four kinds of unbalanced capacitor voltages. The effectiveness of the proposed control method has been verified experiments.
